RecipeWorks ("we", "us", or "our") operates the RecipeWorks web application and iOS app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Email address — used for passwordless sign-in via magic link. We do not share your email with third parties.
- Display name — optional, shown on your profile and recipes you choose to share publicly.
- Recipes and content — recipes, notes, and other content you create within the app. Private recipes are only visible to you.
Information collected automatically:
- Session cookie — a secure, HTTP-only cookie is used to keep you signed in. It contains no personal data beyond a session identifier.
- Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps, pages visited) used for debugging and improving the Service. Logs are not sold or shared.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and maintain your session
- To store and display your recipes
- To send magic link sign-in emails (transactional only — no marketing emails)
- To improve and debug the Service
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent.
4. AI Features
RecipeWorks uses third-party AI services (including Anthropic Claude) to power recipe generation and the AI sous-chef chat feature. When you use these features, relevant recipe content and your prompts are sent to these services to generate responses. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.
5. Public Content
Recipes you choose to make public are visible to all visitors, including unauthenticated users. Your display name is shown alongside public recipes. You can make a recipe private at any time from the recipe settings.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and recipe data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us at the address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, HTTP-only session cookies, and secure database hosting. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
RecipeWorks is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us for prompt removal.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
